The first edition of a scarce, early biography of the hero of Ticonderoga. This copy is from the George Brinley collection with his label in a very early, original publisher's cloth binding. George Brinley of Hartford, Ct. was a mid-nineteenth century collector of Americana. His collection, which was broken up in a series of auctions after his death, was one of the first great collections of Americana in the United States. Many of the items can now be found in the principal collections of today such as the Huntington or the Morgan Library.
